James Thacker Mountaineering offers a variety of scrambling courses; from the classic routes to roped and independant scrambling. We aim to help you to get the most from your days out on the hill.

 

Scrambling - Hillwalking with Handholds:

Aimed at those wanting to experience some new and exciting ways to the summit, this course covers the aspects of unroped scrambling combined with some excellent hill walking.

Learning Objectives: Navigation, route choice, guidebook interpretation, safe movement, spotting and movement coaching.

Duration: 2 days Ratio: 1:2 minimum Location: North Wales or Lake District Price: £160 per person

 

Ropework for Scramblers:

This course is aimed at experienced hill walkers and scramblers who wish to take the next step and use the rope to safeguard more technical scrambles. Operating on grade 2 and 3 scrambles we will cover the essential skills to move over technical ground in safety.

Learning Objectives: Guidebook interpretation, route choice, equipment, runner placement, belays, belaying, and abseil retreat.
