James Thacker Mountaineering was born out of our vast enthusiasm for climbing across the UK; and a need for competitively priced skills training. We have taken the unusual step of forging a strong alliance between two top professional instructors in two quite seperate geographical areas.

Andy Turner

Andy Turner has been a commited climber for over 15 years. Based in the Lake District Andy is a highly experienced instructor who also the Mountain Instructors Certificate (MIC). As a regular Scottish winter activist he is often to be found working, or just out climbing on Ben Nevis. Andy also has ascents to his credit of major mountains in the greater ranges such as Cerro Torre, Patagonia, combined with a recent attempt on the north face of Machermo, Nepal.

Rob Jarvis

Rob has had a long and traditional mountaineering apprenticeship and has visited most of the fantastic venues here in the UK for rock and ice climbing. Another highly experienced instructor who holds the Mountain Instructors Award (MIC). In addition, Rob has also recently been accepted onto the British Mountain Guides scheme and is looking forward to working in Europe.
